God's Pharmacy! Amazing!

Helping Humans Posted by Helping Humans at 02:43 PM on August 31, 2009 Comments comments (0)

Just a little reminder...

It's been said that God first separated the salt water from the fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, made animals and fish... All before making a human. He made and provided what we'd need before we were born. These are best & more powerful when eaten raw. We're such slow learners...

God left us a great clue as to what foods help what part of our body!

God's Pharmacy! Amazing!

A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye... And YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.

A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food.

Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.

A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.

Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.

Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.

Avocadoes, Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).

Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of Sperm as well to overcome male sterility.

Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.

Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries

Oranges , Grapefruits, and other Citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.

Onions look like the body's cells. Today's research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.

To Those of You Born Between 1927-1979

Helping Humans Posted by Helping Humans at 07:57 AM on June 26, 2009 Comments comments (2)

This is an email I recieved from my Mom that is floating around out there in cyber space. Wanted to share it.

At the end of this email is a quote of the month by Jay Leno.. If

you don't read anything else, please Read what he said

Very well stated, Mr. Leno.

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE 1940's, 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's!!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while

they were pregnant.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright coloured lead-base paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps not helmets on our heads.

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pickup truck on a warm day was always a

special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.  We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank Kool-aid made with real white sugar. And, we weren't overweight. WHY? Because we were always outside, playing...that's why!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And, we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then

ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's and X-boxes.. There were no

video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet and no chat rooms.

WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them! We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever. We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door

or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who

didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment.

Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers problem

solvers and inventors ever.

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.

If  YOU are one of them?  CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to

grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated

so much of our lives for our own good.

While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave and lucky their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?

~

The quote of the month is by Jay Leno:

'With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'

For those that prefer to think that God is not watching over

us....go ahead and delete this.

For the rest of us...pass this

Carbohydrates and Proteins

Helping Humans Posted by Helping Humans at 01:19 PM on June 11, 2009 Comments comments (2)

What are Carbohydrates and Proteins?

The best way I can  remember is; anything that grows from the ground is a carbohydrate, which does include anything you pick from a bush, tree or vine.

Proteins are anything that moves: things that swim, walk, crawl… seafood, fowl, cow, goat… and any of their by products like cheese, cream, milk…

All carbohydrates are basically sugars. Complex carbohydrates are the best carbohydrates for your body. These strings of sugar are very difficult to break down and trap other nutrients like vitamins and minerals in the sugar strings. As they slowly break down, the other nutrients are also released into your body, and you can be provided with fuel for a number of hours. Complex carbohydrates: Fresh, not processed Fruits & Veggies, Whole Grains, *Beans and *Nuts. Fruits and Veggies are generally low in calories so you can get away with eating a lot of it. Some fruits need to be limited and eaten at specific times of the day if you are Diabetic.

Simple carbohydrates, on the other hand, are not the best sugars (diabetics should avoid and try to eat only the better choices). Because their structure is not complex, it is easy to break down and holds little nutrients for your body other than the sugars from which it is made. Your body breaks down these carbohydrates rather quickly and what it cannot use is converted to fat and stored in the body. Limiting or trying other varieties (better choices) of simple carbohydrates is the better way to go, since they have little nutritional value when compared to complex carbohydrates. A sweet potato is a better choice because it has more nutrients and breaks down slower than a white potato. Wild rice or brown rice is a better choice than white rice for the same reason. The “white” carbs increase (spike) your sugar levels and the energy burns out quicker, leaving you feeling tired and “draggy”. Their calories are higher and have fewer nutrients.

Proteins: we need to eat foods rich in protein every day because, unlike some other nutrients, it cannot be stored in the body. That means that if you eat more protein than necessary, your body will simply cause it to pass through your system. Because protein cannot be stored in the body if you don’t get enough protein on any given day, your body has no back-up plan for producing protein on its own or using reserved protein from previous days. Therefore, protein is very important to consider when you are planning your meals. Essentially, protein is used to continually rebuild your hair, nails, skin, tissue (even brain tissue) and muscle.

Protein also helps a person’s body in other ways, mainly with the maintenance of hormones. Hormones in the body do a number of things, such as regulate organ function, account for stimulation, create metabolism, and affect mood. Proteins are used in the making of some of these different hormones, so if you go more than a day or two without eating foods rich in proteins, your entire body will suffer. How can you make sure that you’re getting enough proteins? Rule of “hand” your serving size is approximately the same size as your palm. Read the serving sizes for things other than meats i.e. cheese, nuts etc.

Don’t forget if your not a big meat eater; beans and nuts are considered perfect foods because they are half carbs and half proteins so add them in to salads, pastas… and don’t forget cheeses (cottage, hard, soft), creams, yoghurts are proteins (limit, high fat/calories) and oh yeah EGGS.

So I hope this makes it a little easier to understand we need both Carbohydrates and Proteins they are essentials to our being well.

Two Horses...

There is a field, with two horses in it.

From a distance, each horse looks like any other horse.

But if you stop your car, or are walking by, you will

notice something quite amazing. Looking into the eyes

of one horse will disclose that he is blind. His owner

has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a

good home for him .

This alone is amazing.

If you stand nearby and listen, you will hear the

sound of a bell. Looking around for the source of

the sound, you will see that it comes from the

smaller horse in the field.

Attached to the horse's halter is a small bell.

It lets the blind friend know where the other

horse is, so he can follow.

As you stand and watch these two horses, you'll see

that the horse with the bell is always checking on the

blind horse, and that the blind horse will listen for

the bell and then slowly walk to where the other

horse is, trusting that he will not be led astray.

When the horse with the bell returns to the shelter

of the barn each evening, it stops occasionally and

looks back, making sure that the blind friend isn't

too far behind to hear the bell.

Like the owners of these two horses, God does not

throw us away just because we are not perfect or

because we have problems or challenges.

He watches over us and even brings others into our

lives to help us when we are in need.

Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by

the little ringing bell of those who God places in

our lives.

Other times we are the guide horse, helping others

to find their way....

Good friends are like that... you may not always

see them, but you know they are always there.

Please listen for my bell and I'll listen for yours.

And remember...be kinder than necessary-everyone

you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Live simply,

Love generously,

Care deeply,

Speak kindly....

Leave the rest to God.

Tips for making your own Pet Food

How to Make Your Own Dog Food

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit
Consumers seem to be looking for more natural dog foods without preservatives or additives after occasional defects in pet food caused health problems. Making your own dog food requires a simple mix of meat, vegetables and starches.

Steps

  1. Know that it is wise to check with your vet before switching to homemade dog food.
  2. Understand that dogs need a diet that consists of 40 percent meat, 30 percent vegetables and 30 percent starch. Follow this formula to ensure that your dog has a well-balanced diet.
  3. Cook meat before feeding it to your dog.
  4. Realize that organ meat (such as liver, kidneys, etc.) and eggs are very good for your dog.
  5. Consider the fact that many experts believe commercial dog food is actually unhealthy for dogs. Often the meat that is used in dog food is of a quality considered unfit for humans.
  6. Try making a mixture of ground turkey, rice and carrot for your own dog food. Meals made of ground beef, brown rice, brewer's yeast and carrots are also popular.
  7. Rotate the foods you feed your dog so that the dog gets a variety of foods.
  8. Use oatmeal, pasta, rice or potatoes for your dog's starch requirement.
  9. Grind eggshells and add this to your dog's meal. Eggshells have a lot of nutrients.
  10. Keep cooked dog food in the refrigerator no longer than three days. Keep in mind that when you're using natural ingredients, the food spoils easily so you must just make enough food that could last for a span of a few days - depending on the shelf-life of the ingredients.
  11. Consider this recipe. A typical recipe for homemade dog food combines meat, vegetables, and grains into one meal. It calls for these ingredients: 2 lbs hamburger, 10 oz shrimp or lobster, 1 cup raw liver, 1 boiled potato, 2 cups of rolled oats, ¼ cup blueberries, ½ cup brown rice, ¼ cup wheat germ, ¼ cup brewer's yeast and a tad of cinnamon.
    • Combine beef, boiled potato and shrimp or lobster and put all in a food processor. Crush the blueberries into a mushy fruit paste. Blend together all the ingredients and roll into a ball. This is meant to be fed fresh and raw.
  12. Consider this recipe. Another recipe has the following ingredients: 8 cups oats, 2 cups brown rice, 6 cups barley, 2 lbs carrots (grated), 3-4 bunches of broccoli (stems grated and flowerettes chopped), 6 zucchini (grated) and ½ bunch parsley (chopped).
    • Use two 8 quart stock pots to cook the oats and in another pot brown rice and barley. Then let cool, preferably over night. Chop the vegetables and puree using a food processor. Combine all the ingredients and shape into balls. Freeze for future consumption.

Here is a recipe for a great chicken and rice dish for your dog.

Tips

  • When you first switch to homemade dog food, try mixing commercial dog food to the food you have prepared to help your dog make the transition.
  • Be aware that not all human foods are beneficial to your dog. For example, regular consumption of bacon can easily lead to pancreatitis. Also, many dogs (like most mature mammals) are intolerant of dairy products due to the presence of lactose. For this reason, dairy products remain one of the three most common allergens. Know your dog's limits and feed accordingly.

Warnings

  • Its important to make sure your proportions are right to your dog. 75 protein 25 vegetable/starch is optimal for a healthy dog. There are modifications for overweight or with health issues. A good dog vitamin is critical with calcium (unless you offer it in foods: tricky as they could be fattening)
  • Always check with your veterinarian before you embark on any homemade diet.

What about Food?

Helping Humans Posted by Helping Humans at 06:38 PM on February 20, 2009 Comments comments (1)

Recipes, what's good for you, what is a protein, what is a simple carb? Post your questions. Post your recipes, Give us your imput.

The first thing we need to understand is what is a carbohydrate and a protein?

Carbohydrates are anything that grows from the ground: veggies, fruit, wheat, rice. Carbohydrates are used for energy it is what fuels the body.

Protein comes from things that move: fish, chickens, turkeys, ants, lambs... anything that moves. Protein is used by muscles which allow us to move; connected and held in place by skin and tissue, directed by our brain and spinal cord, all which must continiously be replenished with protein so you can move.
